Telford Balagokulam – GURU PUJA
The Guru Pooja and Shikshak Vandan celebration was held on 21st October by the HSS (UK) Telford Balagokulam, creating a memorable occasion for both the children and their teachers. The event aimed to honor and show gratitude to the educators, and the Balak and Balika (boys and girls) chose to invite their favorite teachers for this special occasion.
The celebration began with the children performing Guru Vandana, expressing their respect and reverence through traditional chants. They recited the Guru Paduka Stotram and sang a Guru Bhajan (devotional song for the teacher). In a beautiful display of creativity, the children also enacted an episode from the Ramayana, underlining the importance of a guru (teacher) in one’s life and spiritual journey. These performances not only entertained but also taught valuable lessons on respect, discipline, and the role of a guru.
To add a more relaxed and playful vibe, Khel (traditional games) were also part of the festivities, bringing a lighthearted atmosphere to the event, while still keeping the focus on the significance of the occasion.
The event was honored by distinguished guests, including the Honorable Mayor of Telford and Wrekin, Raj Mehta, and Pritesh Mistry from West Midlands HSS (UK), who graced the occasion as chief guests. Representatives from the Telford Hindu Cultural Resource Centre were also present to celebrate the occasion.
The Guru Vandana ceremony was followed by the Guru Puja (a ritual to honor the guru), during which every Balak, Balika, and Karyakarta (volunteers) participated wholeheartedly, making the occasion truly memorable for everyone present.
The celebration was a great success, with everyone thoroughly enjoying every moment, reflecting the community’s deep respect for their teachers and the importance of learning in the spiritual and educational journey.
