Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh UK (HSS UK) is a voluntary cultural organisation that has been serving communities across the United Kingdom for nearly six decades. Through its weekly Shakhas (local branches), HSS UK promotes the Hindu values of Seva (selfless service), Sanskar (values and character development), and Sangathan (unity), nurturing responsible individuals who contribute positively to society.

On 5th August, members from the Bradford Branch visited the Lord Mayor of Bradford to celebrate Raksha Bandhan (the sacred bond of protection).

Raksha Bandhan is a significant Hindu festival that symbolises care, gratitude, and shared responsibility. The tying of a Rakhi (sacred thread) represents a commitment to protection and mutual respect. The festival also provides an opportunity to honour those who serve and safeguard the wider community.

During the visit, members of HSS UK tied Rakhi to the Lord Mayor as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, strengthening ties between the organisation and civic leadership. The Lord Mayor thanked HSS UK for its longstanding contribution to community service and recognised the organisation’s nearly 60 years of voluntary work across the UK.

The occasion reflected the spirit of Raksha — reinforcing bonds between communities and public representatives, and promoting unity, harmony, and service. Through such engagements, HSS UK continues to build meaningful relationships and uphold the values that inspire individuals to serve society with dedication and compassion.
