This Diwali, Karyakartas from HSS Slough Shakha, including members of Sita Shakha and Abhimanyu Shakha, had the privilege of delivering four school assemblies at Upton Court Grammar School. Through these sessions, they engaged with over 1,200 students from Year 7 to Year 13.
The assemblies highlighted the deeper significance of Diwali — marking the return of Lord Rama and Sita after the defeat of Ravana, symbolising the enduring victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Students were encouraged to look beyond external celebrations such as lighting diyas and instead reflect on the importance of nurturing inner light, purity, and positive values.
A central message shared was that Diwali is a universal festival. Just like a diya spreads light without discrimination, its warmth and brightness are for everyone, regardless of background or belief.
The team also extended their best wishes to Year 11 and Sixth Form students, encouraging them to carry the spirit and values of Diwali as they prepare for exams and take their next steps into the wider world.
We express our sincere gratitude to Upton Court Grammar School for providing this meaningful opportunity to share the essence of Diwali with young minds.
