On Friday, 16th November, Bromley Sanskaar Shakha enthusiastically participated in UK Parliament Week by inviting their local Member of Parliament for Orpington, Mr. Jo Johnson, who had recently served as a Cabinet Minister in the governing Conservative Party.

The event began with a presentation on the history of HSS (UK), showcasing the values and activities that the organisation promotes. This was followed by a demonstration of Suryanamaskar, Niyuddh (self-defense techniques), and Dand (stick drills). To make the event even more engaging, participants and Mr. Johnson joined in for a game of Kho-Kho, an experience that delighted both the attendees and the MP himself.

Mr. Johnson was particularly impressed with the discipline and enthusiasm displayed by the participants. He actively engaged with the group, asking insightful questions about HSS activities and its role in shaping youth development in the UK.

Following the physical activities, Mr. Johnson led a Bauddhik (intellectual session), where he provided a detailed insight into the life of a politician. He explained the election process, the roles of MPs and cabinet ministers, the difference between frontbenchers and backbenchers, and how parliamentary debates and decision-making take place.

The session was highly interactive, with participants posing a variety of questions, which Mr. Johnson answered with clarity and confidence. His explanations provided a greater understanding of governance, democracy, and political engagement.

The event was a memorable and inspiring experience, helping the young members of Bromley Sanskaar Shakha appreciate the importance of active participation in democracy and the impact of politics on everyday life.
